Chipstead Open Meeting
23rd September 2018
The briefing is planned for 10.30 and we are aiming to run four races with, probably, three to count.
Chipstead lake is a great place to race small dinghies, the sailing area (about 65 acres) being large enough to stretch the minds and skills of the regular racer, but at the same time, small and compact enough for the less experienced to feel secure and comfortable to enjoy the racing. It is also well suitable for youngsters to sail and enjoy a great day of dinghy racing and they will be especially welcome.
Launching is from a choice of several pontoons so need for us to even get our feet wet, or a sloping beach if you prefer. The car park and clubhouse are all conveniently close to the launching area and race track.
All our club’s facilities will be available, so all friends, supporters, pit crew, technical and medical advisers will be especially welcome to enjoy the day with us; bacon butties first thing, coffee, light lunches, tea and cake will be on sale, together with the bar at lunchtime. The clubhouse’s veranda gives great views of the racing area and the lake.
This event, racing for the Walter Smith Trophy, is also a heat of the NFA’s Vines Trophy and M25 Trophy
Find us just off Junction 5 of the M25, leave the motorway to join the A21 southbound, signed Hastings and Tonbridge, and very soon afterwards, left to join the A25 eastwards, signed Sevenoaks and Maidstone. And, again, very soon, left into Homedean Road for Chipstead village, left into Chevening Road and right by the Brick Layers Arms, following our signs.
If you are travelling up from the south coast using the M23 past Gatwick Airport to join the M25, please remember the highways people are meddling with the M23’s road layout with temporary speed limits and narrow lanes close to the airport in both directions!
Remember – we are Chipstead KENT, not Chipstead SURREY!
