The Firefly members and our support staff are much looking forward to hosting our Open Meeting later in September, racing for the Walter Smith trophy, a charming silver cup, raced for annually since 1959. The boring technical stuff follows in a moment, but Chipstead lake is a charming 60 acres of “interesting” sailing waters which provides great tactical racing for the hardened competitor and a secure comfortable venue for the less experienced and youngsters to enjoy Firefly racing. Launching can be from jetties, so no need even for wet feet.

Our clubhouse provides all the facilities required to enjoy the day’s racing and all of course, families, pit crew, supporters and technical advisers will be especially welcome to join us for the day. Butties first thing, light lunches and afternoon tea will be available for us all to enjoy.

Location and route direction are set out on the club’s website, but we are just off the A25 near Sevenoaks, Kent, close to Junction 5 of the M25, TN13 2SD, clubhouse telephone number, 01732 454875

    Details:

Briefing will be at 10.30 (ish), and four races planned.
The event is part of the NFA Vines and M25 series of races.
Entry fee will be £12 per boat.

We all look forward to welcoming you on September 24, and of course, more Open Meetings to enjoy soon after at Papercourt SC, West Oxfordshire SC and Spinnaker Club, all real proper compact “inland” sailing venues, plus the BIG ONE at the open expanses Rutland Water, 4/5 November for the NFA Inland Championships, racing for the Royal Corinthian YC Silver Firefly trophy.
