    there appears to be nothing in the rules for the fore and aft position of the mast step only it’s height.Am I missing something?? regards Rob

    Hi, it seems that there is nothing specific about the mast step but there is a minimum and a maximum distance to the back of the mast that does provide a certain level of guidance. You can see this on lines 2 and 3 of the table at the back of the rules document.

    The position of the mast step can also be influenced by the location of the extra wide part of the hog that provides support to the mast step.

    I think you’re using the 2003 version of the rules, the 2012 version (voted in a couple of AGMs ago) can be downloaded from the RYA site here:

    the rule to which you refer has not changed, it now lives at C7.3
