New Firefly owner here. I understand that the maximum height of the mast was increased by a few inches some time back. My boat has the former standard Proctor C mast. I am not as flexible as I was and the boom is very low. Is it possible to extend this mast at the heel to raise the boom a bit? Or does it have to be a new mast? I have considered building up the mast foot on the hog, but assume that would put the boat out of measure.

You can extend the mast by cutting it at mast gate level, inserting a sleeve and rejoining with a 3inch long piece of mast section added. Give me a call if you want me to do the job. I have enough sleeve left to do one more mast!

Thank you Tony, that’s very helpful. So I won’t tamper with the hog, I’ll fit a new mast step, which is needed, and which started this train of thought, and I’ll contact you to do the extension when that’s all done.
